How Is Aquamarine Formed?

Natural Aquamarine stones can be quite hard to find. They are very rare but form in the same way that Beryl stones are, given that they’re of the same family. Beryl crystals are generally colorless and are an ore of Beryllium.

As Beryl crystals are generally colorless, they can frequently be tinted by impurities and producing an array of different stunning colours. Green, blue, yellow and red are some of the possible Beryl colours that can be formed.

When exposed to Iron 2+ ions, Beryl crystals will turn into a stunning shade of teal, turning it into what we know as Aquamarine.
