Why some high earners still struggle to keep their money
In BaZi (Four Pillars of Destiny), one of the patterns I see very frequently is a clash between the Self Element (Day Master) and the Wealth Element.
Interestingly, this pattern often appears in people who are very capable of making money.
Some of the most hardworking and high-performing professionals have this structure.
Many of them are:
• top sales performers
• insurance agents
• real estate agents
• entrepreneurs
• business owners
They are excellent at generating opportunities and income.
But despite their ability to earn, they sometimes face a frustrating pattern:
money comes… but money does not stay.
What Is the Self Element in BaZi?
The Self Element (Day Master) represents you.
It reflects:
• your core personality
• your decision-making style
• your resilience and drive
• how you handle opportunities and pressure

In BaZi, the Self Element acts like the central energy of your chart.
Everything else interacts with it.
What Is the Wealth Element?
The Wealth Element represents:
• financial opportunities
• income and assets
• business and investments
• the ability to accumulate wealth
However, wealth in BaZi is not just about earning money.
It is also about managing and retaining it.
Some people earn less but accumulate more.
Others earn a lot but find it difficult to keep what they make.
Often, the difference lies in how the Wealth Element interacts with the Self Element.
When Self Element and Wealth Element Clash
When these two elements clash or become imbalanced, an interesting life pattern can appear.
The person may be very capable of generating wealth opportunities, but their own decisions, environment, or timing can cause them to lose what they have worked so hard to earn.
In many cases, the loss is not caused by bad luck alone.
Sometimes, the person unknowingly creates situations that lead to financial leakage.
A Pattern I Often See in High Performers
This pattern is surprisingly common among top performers.
People with strong sales abilities often have the drive and charisma to generate income.
But when the Self Element clashes with the Wealth Element, it can lead to poor financial judgment or risky decisions during certain periods.
Here are two real-life examples.
Case Study 1: Top Insurance Agent

One insurance agent I met was consistently a top performer in his company.
His income was very strong, and he had built an impressive career.
But during a particular period, he became involved in what appeared to be an investment opportunity related to insurance.
Unfortunately, it turned out to be a scam.
He lost a large portion of the money he had worked so hard to accumulate.
When we later reviewed his BaZi chart, the period he entered showed a strong clash between his Self Element and Wealth Element.
This clash made him more vulnerable to financial misjudgment during that time.
Case Study 2: Top Real Estate Agent
Another example was a successful real estate agent.
He had built a strong reputation and was earning very well from property transactions.
However, he decided to start a car-related business outside his main expertise.
The business looked promising at first.
But over time, it began to struggle.
Eventually, he lost close to one million dollars in that venture.
When we analysed his BaZi chart, we again saw a Self–Wealth clash activated during that period.
This pattern sometimes leads people to expand into areas that appear attractive but carry hidden risks.
How This Clash Can Affect Your Life
When the Self Element and Wealth Element clash in your chart, you may experience patterns such as:
• earning money but struggling to keep it
• sudden financial setbacks after periods of success
• being attracted to risky investments
• making impulsive business decisions
• trusting the wrong partners or opportunities
The person is often capable and hardworking, but the financial structure becomes unstable during certain cycles.
Signs You May Have This Pattern

Some common signs include:
• your income is high but savings remain low
• large financial losses occur suddenly
• business ventures often start strong but end poorly
• you feel confident in financial decisions but later regret them
• wealth seems to “slip away” unexpectedly
If these patterns repeat in your life, it may be worth examining whether your BaZi chart contains this type of element clash.
Can This Pattern Be Improved?
Yes.
BaZi does not mean you are destined to lose wealth.
Instead, it highlights areas where adjustment and awareness are important.
Once the pattern is identified, several approaches can help strengthen your wealth stability.
Possible Solutions
Different adjustments may be recommended depending on your chart.
Some common approaches include:
Name Adjustment
A name can be structured to strengthen supportive elements and balance weaknesses in the chart.
Phone Number Adjustment
Numbers carry symbolic energy.
Adjusting your phone number to align better with your BaZi elements may help reduce certain clashes.
Element Balancing Bracelets
Bracelets made with specific stones or elements can help reinforce supportive energy in daily life.
Dual Pixiu Placement
Pixiu symbols are traditionally associated with wealth protection.
Using a pair of Pixiu can symbolically represent attracting and guarding wealth.
Wealth Bowl Activation
A wealth bowl arrangement is sometimes used to represent abundance and financial stability.
When placed correctly, it acts as a symbolic anchor for wealth energy.
The First Step Is Awareness
The most important step is simply understanding whether this pattern exists in your chart.
Once you know your structure, you can make decisions more carefully during periods where wealth energy is unstable.
